UNLV VITA is a free tax preparation program serving eligible individuals and families in the Las Vegas community. As part of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, we are committed to helping taxpayers file accurate returns at no cost.
Mission
Our mission is to provide free, reliable, and accessible tax preparation services to eligible members of our community while offering UNLV students meaningful, real-world experience in tax preparation, ethics, and public service.

Our Volunteers
IRS-Certified UNLV Accounting Students
UNLV VITA volunteers are UNLV accounting students who complete IRS-required training and certification before assisting clients. Each volunteer is trained to prepare tax returns accurately and professionally while maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
How We Protect Your Information
We take your privacy and data security seriously. All client information is handled with strict safeguards to ensure confidentiality and compliance with federal regulations.

Secure Tax Software: All tax returns are prepared using IRS-approved software and transmitted over encrypted Wi-Fi networks to protect your personal information.

On-Site Data Protection: Client information is secured at the VITA site in full compliance with IRS Publication 4299 data security guidelines.

Document Retention & Deletion: All UNLV VITA documents are securely deleted by April 30, 2026, in accordance with IRS data retention policies.
